Alberta’s Continuing Care Strategy
Alberta has created a new Continuing Care Strategy called “Aging in the Right Place” with a goal of improving options for seniors and the physically challenged through improving the existing supports to assist those with care needs to remain in their own communities. Included in this Strategy is: expanding home care services and funding, caregiver support, assessing those in facilities to determine if they can return to the community with supports, assisting the public with navigating the health care system to best meet their needs, improving assistance in hospital emergency departments to assist with locating options, supporting community initiatives to allow people to remain in their own community, funding new technologies that will support these initiatives and improving the infrastructure of the province to support seniors and the disabled to age comfortably in their own communities.
